Acacus and Microsoft - Supports Super Hero Foundation in USA
A very novel and unique initiative is being supported by Acacus in USA, led by Mr. Ousama Abushagur, our Chief Commercial Officer, who is based in San Jose, California.
In collaboration with Microsoft, Acacus is supporting a charity project by Jamie McDonalds, co-founder of Super Hero Foundation. The foundation grants financial support to families for treatment not otherwise available on the National Health Services (NHS) of USA.
31-year-old Jamie, spent the first nine years of his life in & out of hospital with a rare spinal condition-syringomyelia. After winning his battle with the condition, he dedicated his life in supporting children in hospitals. Over the last 4 years now, he has raised more than £500,000 for children’s charities, hospitals & causes around the world through his many adventures.
A former tennis coach himself, Jamie is currently running 6,000 miles (a year-long) across 15 states in USA as ‘Adventureman’ to raise funds. Previously in 2012 he cycled 14,000 miles from Bangkok to Gloucester on a £50 second-hand bike and a 5,000-mile solo run across Canada.
To support the cause Acacus has developed ‘Lynx - Super US Run Tracker’ IOT solution for Jamie, wherein people can track and follow as Jamie runs across America to raise funds. The way the tracker utilizes technology is that, if Jamie is running through a particular town and if a user has signed up on Jamie’s website, he/she will receive a notification. Also people outside of USA, can know in real time the exact location of Jamie through his adventure run.
The tracker can be accessed at https://lynx-hero.azurewebsites.net/Maps/Index
